The Watford UTC is very excited to have opened its own in-house Travel Agency, Escape.

At our Official Launch Day, Captain Martin Chalk (British Airways Senior Pilot and President of the International Federation of Air Line Pilots Association) officially opened Escape in front of students, staff and our special guests including Watford MP, Richard Harrington.

Lorraine Davenport’s background in travel & tourism and events started with Thomson Holidays, KLM and Scandinavian Airlines. From there she moved on to managing a large and very successful travel agency before her entrepreneurial flair led to her starting her own a hospitality catering company. Lorraine is currently a Director and teacher of Travel & Tourism and will be overseeing the students in the Travel Agency.
Students will search for, plan and book holidays and business trips. They will gain the vital hands on industry skills that employers are looking for and develop invaluable customer service, interpersonal and selling skills. After successful completion of a series of tasks, students will be awarded a Retail Travel certificate.
In addition, by working in partnership with Baway Travel, students will create a new product to sell. This product will be a travel experience to a specific event, for example a concert, festival or sporting event.
